SUMMARY:Serving Dinner at the Denver Rescue Mission!
DESCRIPTION:Serving Dinner at the Denver Rescue Mission\, Tues. March 28th\, 4:30-6:30PM\, 5 Volunteers are needed. We will be serving dinner to the homeless in their Downtown facility. They do have two free parking areas for the volunteers.  For some of the guests\, the meals they serve at the Mission are the only source of nutrition they receive.  They say that “with each healthy meal comes strength to face the new challenges of each day.”  They serve over 600\,000 meals to the hungry each year.  We have helped them several times before. They do follow COVID guidelines to be sure it is a safe experience and volunteers do need to have been vaccinated and wear a mask.  The volunteers truly find this to be a worthwhile cause & enjoy the experience!

SUMMARY:Personal Prom Dress Shoppers at Bella Boutique!
DESCRIPTION:Personal Free Prom Dress Shoppers at Bella Boutique\, Sat. March 18\, 9AM-12:30PM\, 5 Volunteers are needed.  We will be Personal Shoppers who are each matched with a high school student.  Together each volunteer will help them shop the racks to find the perfect look for their prom.  Once the student has selected a dress\, you may shop together for shoes and accessories.  Bella Boutique helps low-income students so that they do not look “low income” and are able to attend their prom\, which is such an important event at their age.  We will receive training on the layout of the store so we know where everything is and will all wear black so the students are the focus while having the shopping experience.  This event is in SW Denver.  This is a very worthy non profit that stresses:  “Equity\, dignity\, inclusion — it matters!”  We have helped them several times and our volunteers always love this event!

This is a fantastic facility that assists homeless women!  We can help bring some joy there while serving dinner & talking to residents as they come through the dinner line!  The Delores Project has made adjustments due to the pandemic to make us safe as well as the residents safe.  The kitchen and dining room are cleaned before and after each meal.  We will be wearing masks & will be provided disposable gloves.  The food is provided\, we just need to heat it up and serve it to the residents as they come through the line.  In addition to serving the food we will eat dinner towards the end of our shift prior to packing up the food items for storage. Volunteers will need to submit their vaccination card prior to the event so sign up soon so I can get that to them.   So many of our volunteers have been requesting this event!  We have assisted this women’s safe shelter several times and they have asked us back as we have fantastic groups of volunteers. The shelter is in West Denver. This is a confidential location that is given out to the volunteers after registering due to the nature of the facility.  Both male & female volunteers are welcome to assist at this event.

SUMMARY:Serving Dinner at The Crossing transitional shelter!
DESCRIPTION:Serving Dinner at The Crossing transitional shelter\, Thurs. Jan. 19th\, 5PM-7PM\, 6 volunteers are needed. This facility is trying to keep everything safe for volunteers.  Each volunteer should wear a mask.  Gloves will be provided. All volunteers must have been vaccinated!  We will be behind the counter & plexi-glass when serving food and there are sinks for handwashing and sanitizer.

SUMMARY:Serving Dinner at The Crossing transitional shelter!
DESCRIPTION:Serving Dinner at The Crossing transitional shelter\,Wed. Aug. 17th\, 5-7:PM\, 5 volunteers are needed. (This event is now on Waiting List status.  If you sign up you will receive 2 automated responses but will only be contacted with details if we have a volunteer cancellation.) Many of our volunteers request this event because they enjoy it and feel that it is such a worthwhile organization.  The Crossing is a transitional facility between the homeless shelter and getting back into a home.  The residents are working and saving up for a place to live.  It is drug & alcohol free.  Men\, women & children reside there.  It provides a great service as people work to get back on their feet. Our volunteers will help in the buffet line and may help with some of the meal bags for those who come back from work after dinner time.  After we serve dinner we will have an opportunity to eat as a group and also enjoy the meal. This facility is trying to keep everything safe for volunteers.  Each volunteer should wear a mask.  Gloves will be provided. All volunteers must have been vaccinated!  We will be behind the counter & plexi-glass when serving food and there are sinks for handwashing and sanitizer. The last time we were there during this pandemic time\, they were using disposable dishes and utensils\, most the residents then ate in their rooms instead of the dining room and they had an extra table in front of the food line to keep everyone 6 ft. apart.
