SUMMARY:Fundraising Beverage Booth at PrideFest-4th Shift!
DESCRIPTION:Fundraising Beverage Booth at PrideFest-4th Shift\, Sun.\, June 23\, 1PM-6:30PM\, 12 Volunteers are needed to run an alcohol booth. The event is in Civic Center Park.  In addition to helping the non-profit who gets the majority of the funds we will get paid money towards our fantastic organization so we can continue to operate.  SVGD needs funds annually in order to pay our insurance\, web hosting\, sponsor our MeetUp group for more volunteers\, etc.  We provide volunteers to approx. 60 non-profit events annually but do need to do a couple for us in order to continue providing this great service to the Metro Denver community.  We will be in charge of an alcohol booth\, which we’ve done for several years\, at this fun event with a percentage of the profits going to our organization as long as we provide the number of volunteers they need for the shift!  Since this is a big undertaking & a fundraiser\, non-SVGD members can also register.  We encourage our members to invite friends\, work associates\, and other non-profit associates to participate\, especially since we need so many volunteers for the 4 shifts.  If we don’t provide the number of volunteers to which we commit we don’t get paid!  When you sign up please let us know if you have other persons who could be volunteers and we will contact them or you can give us their info.  We always have a fantastic time!  It’s a colorful event with lots going on! We’re in a three sided booth with a counter and window that looks out at the colorful action.  It’s like watching TV!  What fun!!  PrideFest is the largest annual fundraiser annually for the LGBTQ Community Center of Colorado (The Center)\, a non-profit that serves more than 47\,000 people annually.  Recognized as one of the top ten pride events in the country\, Denver’s PrideFest is a celebration of community\, heritage\, family and culture. They are expecting around 500\,000 people from Colorado and surrounding areas come out to enjoy the parade\, rally\, music\, entertainment\, food and much more. The Center plays a pivotal role to reduce harassment & discrimination and provides programs & resources needed for the LGBTQ community to live happy\, healthy\, & productive lives.  Please join us as we accomplish two objectives- supporting SVGD financially and supporting this non profit!

SUMMARY:Postal Carriers-Stamp Out Hunger Event + Social!
DESCRIPTION:Postal Carriers-Stamp Out Hunger\, Sat. May 11\, 3:30-7:30PM\, 5 volunteers needed. (This event is now on Waiting List status.  If you sign up you will receive the automated response but will only be contacted with the details if we get a volunteer cancellation). The National Assn. of Letter Carriers is sponsoring an event throughout our Metro area where they will be picking up food donations along their carrier routes & will be bringing it back to their post offices.  We will be at a Post Office (near Pecos/76th) to help unload and sort the food so trucks can take it back to the Action Center where it will be distributed to low-income families.   It is a very worthwhile event that will make quite a difference for low-income families!  After the event we are inviting the volunteers to have a social experience at a BBQ restaurant that is in the adjoining parking lot.  We helped at this event last year and enjoyed both the event & the social!  (If you’re checking the web site for events because you haven’t received a newsletter it’s because we are having newsletter problems for a few weeks.  It is finally resolved so the newsletter is being sent out but it’s coming from a new address:  promoter@svgd.org \, so it might be in your Spam.)

SUMMARY:Volunteers Needed for MS Walk Route Tent!
DESCRIPTION:MS Walk Route Tent\, Sat.\, May 4\, 8AM-1PM\, 5 Volunteers are needed. (This event is on Waiting List status.  If you register you will receive the automated response but will only be contacted with the details if there is a volunteer cancellation.) We will be helping at the tent where the 1 milers and the 3 milers split.  The event is being held at Denver City Park.  They will drive us (in golf carts I believe) to the covered booth location which will be right by the lake so we’ll have a fantastic view!  We will get to cheer on the runners/walkers and make sure that they are going on the correct course (as the 1 milers wouldn’t want to go on the 3 mile course\, and vice versa).  We will have snacks and water for us in our booth.  All volunteers will get an MS Tshirt.  Parking is free. This is the largest walking fundraiser in the country!  Walk MS brings together a community of passionate people for one powerful cause: to end MS forever. And with every step they take and every dollar they raise… they’re that much closer. The National MS Society is the largest private funder of MS research in the world. It’s an exciting event where they have a program and lots going on.  I know that MS has touched many families in our community. We will definitely be Going Out for a Good Cause and I know we’ll have a great time!

SUMMARY:Serving Dinner at The Delores Project Women's Safehouse!
DESCRIPTION:Serving Dinner at The Delores Project Women’s Safehouse\,Wed. Jan. 10th\, 6-8 PM\, 5 Volunteers are needed. (We had such a great response when we did this event on Dec. 5th that we had a long Waiting List of volunteers.  This event has been set up for those volunteers so they can finally assist at the location.  If you sign up you will receive a confirmation of your registration but will only be contacted with the details if there is a volunteer cancellation.) This is a fantastic facility that assists homeless women who have been in challenging situations!  We can help bring some Holiday joy there while serving dinner & talking to residents as they come through the dinner line!  The food is provided\, we just need to heat it up and serve it to the residents as they come through the line.  In addition to serving the food we will eat dinner towards the end of our shift prior to packing up the food items for storage. Volunteers will need to submit their COVID vaccination card prior to the event so sign up soon so we can get that to them.   So many of our volunteers request this event!  We have assisted this women’s safe shelter several times and they have asked us back as we have fantastic groups of volunteers. The shelter is in West Denver. This is a confidential location that is given out to the volunteers after registering due to the nature of the facility.  Both male & female volunteers are welcome to assist at this event.
