SUMMARY:Personal Free Prom Dress Shoppers at Bella Boutique!
DESCRIPTION:Personal Free Prom Dress Shoppers at Bella Boutique\, Sat. March 19\, 9AM-12:30PM\, 5 Volunteers are needed. (This event is now on Waiting List status.  If you sign up you will receive an automated response but will only be contacted with all the details if we have a volunteers cancellation.) The Bella Boutique is back now that proms are happening again!  The last time we helped them was a couple years ago to pack up everything as they had to close.  We will be Personal Shoppers who are each matched with a high school student.  Together each volunteer will help them shop the racks to find the perfect look for their prom.  Once the student has selected a dress\, you may shop together for shoes and accessories.  Bella Boutique helps low-income students so that they do not look “low income” and are able to attend their prom\, which is such an important event at their age.  We will receive training on the layout of the store so we know where everything is and will all wear black so the students are the focus while having the shopping experience.  This event will be near Evans/Monaco.  This is a very worthy non profit that stresses:  “Equity\, dignity\, inclusion — it matters!”

SUMMARY:Serving Dinner at The Crossing transitional shelter!
DESCRIPTION:Serving Dinner at The Crossing transitional shelter\, Tues. Feb. 22\, 5-7PM\, 5 volunteers are needed. (This event is now on Waiting List status. If you sign up you willl receive automated responses but will only be contacted if we have a volunteer cancellation.) Many of our volunteers request this event because they enjoy it and feel that it is such a worthwhile organization.  The Crossing is a transitional facility between the homeless shelter and getting back into a home.  The residents are working and saving up for a place to live.  It is drug & alcohol free.  Men\, women & children reside there.  It provides a great service as people work to get back on their feet. Our volunteers will help in the buffet line and may help with some of the meal bags for those who come back from work after dinner time.  After we serve dinner we will have an opportunity to eat as a group and also enjoy the meal. This facility is trying to keep everything safe for volunteers.  Each volunteer should wear a mask.  Gloves will be provided. All volunteers must have been vaccinated!  We will be behind the counter & plexi-glass when serving food and there are sinks for handwashing and sanitizer. The last time we were there during this pandemic time\, they were using disposable dishes and utensils\, most the residents then ate in their rooms instead of the dining room and they had an extra table in front of the food line to keep everyone 6 ft. apart.

SUMMARY:Denver Film Festival!
DESCRIPTION:Denver Film Festival\, Tues. Nov. 9th\, 5:15PM-8:15PM\, 6 Volunteers are needed. We haven’t assisted them for a few years.  We will be assisting with their Virtual Reality platform at the McNichols Civic Center Bldg. near Downtown Denver.  After a very successful virtual adaptation in 2020\, the Festival returns to an in-person event for its 44th year.  We will be helping attendees by walking them through the virtual reality process (you’ll be completely trained prior to starting.)  You’ll also be able to try out the VR experience during slow times!  You will receive a volunteer Tshirt\, and a voucher for any regular priced screening after our event\, as it runs through the 14th.  You must be COVID vaccinated.  Denver Film is a non-profit organization cultivating community & transforming lives through film.  This is a very interesting event where there are Red Carpet premieres\, screenings\, filmmaker conversations & more!  I know many of you who enjoy films will truly love the event while helping a very good cause!

SUMMARY:Serving Dinner at The Crossing transitional shelter!
DESCRIPTION:Serving Dinner at The Crossing transitional shelter\,Wed. Nov. 3\, 4:45-7:15PM\, 6 volunteers are needed. Many of our volunteers request this event because they enjoy it and feel that it is such a worthwhile organization. The last time we were there during this pandemic time\, they were using disposable dishes and utensils\, most the residents then ate in their rooms instead of the dining room and they had an extra table in front of the food line to keep everyone 6 ft. apart.

DESCRIPTION:Live at the Vineyards benefiting KUVO Public Radio Station\, Sat\, Aug. 14th\, 1:30PM-after the music has started. 6 volunteers are needed. (This event is now on Waiting List status.  If you sign up you will receive the two automated responses but will only be contacted if we get a volunteer cancellation.) We help first by putting the linens and flowers on the tables. Then we will help the restaurants who are serving food by running some errands for them & helping in the VIP area.  They couldn’t hold the event last year due to COVID.  It is one of our volunteers’ favorite events.  This year the H2 Big Band will play for the first half and The Sam Mayfield Blues Revue will play for the second half.  What great music!  It is a relaxed atmosphere where you will get to interact and have fun with the guests while also listening to music.  You will get to have a great gourmet meal & wine tasting also.  The event is located North Denver at the Balistreri Vineyards.  There is also an auction and dancing.  Good music and fun people for another fantastic local cause!  Cocktail attire!

SUMMARY:Serving Dinner at The Denver Rescue Mission
DESCRIPTION:Serving Dinner at the Denver Rescue Mission\, Thurs. Aug. 5th 4:30–6:30PM\, 5 Volunteers are needed. We will be serving dinner to the homeless in their Downtown facility.  They do have two free parking areas for the volunteers.  For some of the guests\, the meals they serve at the Mission are the only source of nutrition they receive.  They say that “with each healthy meal comes strength to face the new challenges of each day.”  They serve over 600\,000 meals to the hungry each year.  We have helped them several times before\, most recently after the COVD restrictions are lessening\, but they were still very careful to be sure we were socially distanced.  The volunteers truly find this to be a worthwhile experience.

SUMMARY:Habitat for Humanity ReStore Donation Drive!
DESCRIPTION:Habitat for Humanity ReStore Donation Drive\, Sat. July 24th\, 8:30AM-11:30AM\, 5 Volunteers are needed. This is a fairly  new experience for Habitat for Humanity!  We helped at their first donation drive in March & they specifically asked for our volunteers again for this event.  This one is going to be held at a church parking lot in Castle Rock. We can coordinate car pooling if needed. We will be doing things such as helping to direct traffic\, handing out donation information\, we may do some lifting of donations (they will have some trucks & guys there so they are doing the heavy lifting)\, and will be thanking the donors as they leave!  Customers at the ReStores\, who will benefit from the Donation Drive\, shop for household items at huge discounts.  These items are really needed by families especially this year when many families are shorter on funds.  All profits support Habitat for Humanity’s home ownership program for low-income families.  They say “every purchase builds homes and hope”!  Please sign up soon for this one as we will be given Habitat for Humanity t-shirts and they need to know our shirt sizes!
