SUMMARY:Back to School- School Supply Event at Centennial Park!
DESCRIPTION:Back to School- Supply Event\, Sun. Aug. 2\, 3-6:30PM\, 6 volunteers are needed. (We now have all 6 volunteers for this event!  If you sign up you will receive the automated response and will be put on the Waiting List.  You will only receive the details if have a volunteer cancellation) .  At the event they will be providing backpacks\, school supplies\, will have a free In-N-Out burger cookout\, community resources\, raffles & giveaways\, live music\, games & fun. We will be helping the Iron Sharp Foundation to serve our community\, youth\, & families. The event will be held at Centennial Center Park which is South of Cherry Creek State Park in Centennial.  The back-to-school season is a critical time for families in need!  This will be one of two school supply events we’ll be doing in August in different parts of the metro area to try help low-income families get their children ready for school.

SUMMARY:School Supply Distribution for Jeffco Action Center
DESCRIPTION:School Supply Distribution for the Jeffco Action Center\, Thurs. Aug 6th\, 4:00PM-7PM\, 6 Volunteers are needed. (This event is on Waiting List status.  If you sign up you will receive the automated response but will only be contacted if we have a volunteer cancellation.) We will be helping to staff the school supply distribution. We have helped them several times before and always enjoy the experience.  You will make an impact by helping low-income students be prepared and excited to start school. This will help approx. 5000 students in Jefferson County\,  which has one of the highest number of identified homeless students in Colorado\, over a 7-day (all week days this time) distribution period.  We are divided into areas serving different age groups of children. Parents pick up backpacks for their children which are filled with appropriate school supplies.  Many families are having financial problems this year so we will definitely be making a positive difference for these school children!  We will be in a Middle School in Wheat Ridge. This is one of the Action Center’s largest community events!

SUMMARY:Serving Dinner at The Delores Project Safehouse!
DESCRIPTION:Serving Dinner at The Delores Project Safehouse\, Mon. Aug. 17th\, 5:30-8 PM\, 5 Volunteers are needed. This is a fantastic facility that assists the homeless who have been in challenging relationship situations!  We can help bring some joy there while serving dinner & talking to residents as they come through the dinner line!  The food is provided\, we just need to heat it up and serve it to the residents as they come through the line.  In addition to serving the food we will eat dinner towards the end of our shift prior to packing up the food items for storage.  So many of our volunteers request this event!  We have assisted this safe shelter several times through several years and they have asked us back as we have fantastic groups of volunteers. The shelter is in West Denver. This is a confidential location that is given out to the volunteers after registering due to the nature of the facility.  Both male & female volunteers are welcome to assist at this event.

SUMMARY:Rally for Recovery!!
DESCRIPTION:Rally for Recovery\, Sat. Sept. 19\, 11:00AM-4:00PM\, 8 volunteers are needed.  We will be assisting Advocates for Recovery at Cheesman Park in Denver.  They will be having a parade coming from Capitol to the Park at 11AM. The parade participants should get to Cheesman about Noon & then the fun really begins!   At the park there will be vendors\, events\, food\, & entertainment from the 2026 Recovery’s Got Talent Showcase (the final round of winners will be performing at the Rally) from Noon til 4PM!  We will be assisting at both their AFRC T-shirt Table where we will hand out T-shirts  & give out info; and their Hotdog Station where we will help to cook & serve food!  I believe this is a free booth again as it was last year when we had lots of very appreciative guests.   All this while being able to hear the Talent Showcase!  We helped them last year and really enjoyed the experience!   Advocates for Recovery assists those affected by substance abuse through advocacy\, education\, and peer recovery support services in Colorado communities. It was the first peer-led\, peer-run authentic Recovery Community Organization in Colorado!  Sign up for a great time while helping a very worthy organization!

If you sign up you will receive the automated response but will only be contacted with the info if we have a volunteer cancellation.)  We will be helping right after the dinner starts primarily with greeting & checking in guests\, the silent auction\, and facilitating their treasure hunt.  They will also have music and dancing during that time period. They said that during our time period they will have “surprises beneath the Sea of Stories”!  It will be held at the Denver Central Library which has a parking garage and is a black-tie encouraged event.  Prior to our shift they will have a VIP Reception and a cocktail hour. This event should be a lot of fun on a Saturday night while helping a very good cause!

SUMMARY:WhiskerFest benefiting Humane Colorado!
DESCRIPTION:WhiskerFest benefiting Humane Colorado\, Sat. Oct 3\, 9:30AM-1:30PM\, 6 volunteers are needed. This is Humane Colorado’s first annual community festival bringing together local food lovers\, families\, and pet enthusiasts for a full day of live music\, delicious food and beverages featuring local breweries\, shelter tours\, & fun activities including a KidZone- all to support animals in need.  There is a VIP area as guests will be paying different amounts to attend.  Our volunteers will be assisting with “crowd control” getting everyone to the right places plus will get an opportunity to hear the music\, enjoy the food\, etc.  The event actually starts at 10AM and lasts until 4PM so you are welcome to stay and enjoy the event if you wish. The event will be their location near Quebec & Iliff.
