SUMMARY:Habitat for Humanity Denver ReStore!
DESCRIPTION:Habitat for Humanity ReStore\, Sat. Jan. 24th\, 10AM-2PM\, 6 Volunteers are needed. (This event is now on Waiting List status.  If you sign up you will receive the automated response but will only be contacted with the details if we get a cancellation.) We will be helping at the Denver ReStore which is one of our volunteers’ favorites. We’ve helped them many times previously.  We normally are helping to stock donations onto the shelves\, straighten up or rearrange some of the areas\, and sometimes help with accepting incoming donations & outgoing purchases. There is free parking and a lunch break.  Customers shop at the ReStore for new and gently used appliances\, furniture\, home remodeling supplies\, pictures\, and more at huge discounts.  Our volunteers get an extra discount if they see something they wish to purchase! All profits support Habitat for Humanity’s home ownership program for low-income families.  Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver builds and sells homes to hard-working people in need of decent and affordable housing. Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver is part of a global\, nonprofit housing organization that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes\, communities and hope.

SUMMARY:2026 SVGD Annual Meeting!
DESCRIPTION:2026 SVGD Annual Meeting\, Mon.\, Jan. 19th\, 5:30-7:30PM.  We will order dinner for all attendees at 6PM. At the meeting we will go over the year of 2025 as it relates to our events\, treasury\, etc. & will elect our 2025 Board of Directors\,   We will also have a group discussion re: the past year & the upcoming year of 2026.  We are excited to have a great upcoming year with fun & worthwhile events plus\, perhaps\, a celebration on our organization’s 20th anniversary which is coming up the end of April!  All paid SVGD members who joined by Dec. 20th\, 2025\, are allowed to vote. The event will be held at a restaurant that is near Broadway/Alameda as we did last year.  The exact address will be given after you register. During the week people in need shop with volunteer shoppers in their donation “store” that is set up by sizes and types of clothing just like a regular store.  They are told how many items they can receive at the store and are given a time limit for their shopping. We have helped with this portion of their center’s activities before and really enjoyed the experience!! The Action Center’s mission is to provide an immediate response to basic human needs and promote pathways to self-sufficiency for Jefferson County residents and the homeless.  They are located in Lakewood.  I’m really happy that we are able to assist again as our volunteers always love this event!

This is a fantastic facility that assists homeless women who have been in challenging situations!  We can help bring some joy there while serving dinner & talking to residents as they come through the dinner line!  The food is provided\, we just need to heat it up and serve it to the residents as they come through the line.  In addition to serving the food we will eat dinner towards the end of our shift prior to packing up the food items for storage.  So many of our volunteers request this event!  We have assisted this women’s safe shelter several times through several years and they have asked us back as we have fantastic groups of volunteers. The shelter is in West Denver. This is a confidential location that is given out to the volunteers after registering due to the nature of the facility.  Both male & female volunteers are welcome to assist at this event.

(This event is on Waiting List status.  If you sign up you will receive the automated response but will only be contacted with the event details if we get a volunteer cancellation).  This event is sponsored by the Iron Sharp Community Foundation.  The event will be held at an Aurora middle school. The mission is to support students & families experiencing challenges such as homelessness\, temporary living situations\, and living in poverty.  There will be a cozy\, family-style meal and also several provided resources such as brand-new winter coats\, a hot-chocolate station\, games\, etc. We will be the meal team doing some set up in the dining tables area & around it. Then\, we don’t cook the food but will be serving it in the serving line to the families\, and we’ll help straighten up the area when we’re done.  The goal of the event is to touch the lives & facilitate a wonderful experience for these families who wouldn’t be able to have a good Holiday meal\, especially in the present economic environment. We helped at this event the past two years and really enjoyed it! They sometimes have a free bicycle raffle & several children get bicycles that their families could not afford to buy!

DESCRIPTION:Denver Feed-A-Family\, Sat. Nov. 22nd\, 10AM-Noon\, 10 Volunteers are needed. (This event is on Waiting List status.  I am checking to see if they can use more volunteers.  If you sign up you will receive a confirmation but will only be emailed the info. if they can use more volunteers or we get a volunteer cancellation.)  We will be helping to pack food into the Thanksgiving boxes for the low-income families.  We will be working as a team. I’ve signed us up for the last shift so we’ll be able to see the families as they come to pick up their Food Boxes that will allow them to have a good Thanksgiving Dinner for their families. We did this event last year for the first time and really enjoyed ourselves!  This event is done in honor of Daddy Bruce Randolph who for years had a BBQ restaurant & gave food away for years so that thousands of people could have a good Thanksgiving.  The event is in the Central Denver area. This is a very worthwhile event that reflects their dedication to nourishing our city and embracing the diversity that makes it thrive.  Please sign up soon so I can get the names of our volunteers in our group to the organization.

This is the 20th anniversary of the largest fundraising event for The American Transplant Foundation. We have helped them several times and always enjoy the experience.  The event is located at The Cable Center near the University of Denver.  Our volunteers will be helping as Table/Trivia Game Assistants who help with the Trivia game set up/questions as well as assist at their Coat Check area.  This is a super-fun volunteer experience.  They are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help everyone have a great time! Their mission is to save lives by reducing the growing list of women\, men\, & children who are waiting for a transplant by maximizing living organ donation.

This is a formal attire event (even for volunteers) and is a very exciting night with delicious food & live entertainment.

SUMMARY:This Saturday Afternoon Volunteer Event!
DESCRIPTION:We’ve now got a shorter shift for 5 volunteers this Saturday\, Sept. 20th for the Rally for Recovery in Civic Center Park!  The actual entertainment & event activities will be from 12-4PM & that’s when they really need us!  We’ll be handing out T-shirts\, free hot dogs\, Narcan\, prize tickets\, and information at 3 booths.  The music talent show will be during that time period.  It will be a lot of fun!  We have another event there listed for a longer period that day but a lot of our group members weren’t able able to be there that long.  We’ve got a few volunteers for the longer shift but if you can help just in the afternoon please sign up so we don’t let them down!  The weather is supposed to be nice that day.  Thank you for considering the opportunity!! SUMMARY:Volunteers Needed for Rally for Recovery!
DESCRIPTION:Rally for Recovery\, Sat. Sept. 20\, 9:30AM-4:30PM\, 15 volunteers are needed.  We will be assisting Advocates for Recovery at Civic Center Park in Denver.  They will be having a parade from Union Station to the Park at 11AM. At the park there will be vendors\, events\, food\, & entertainment from the 2025 Recovery’s Got Talent Showcase from Noon til 4PM!  We will be assisting at their AFRC Main Table which gives out Information\, Narcan\, & Prize Ticket Sales; their AFRC T-shirt & Merchandise Table where we will hand out T-shirts\, sell merchandise\, & give out info; and their Hotdogs Station where we will help to cook & serve food!  All this while being able to hear the Talent Showcase!  We’ll divide up so some of our group are floaters to assist at the three areas so our volunteers can have time to enjoy the event also. Advocates for Recovery assists those affected by substance abuse through advocacy\, education\, and peer recovery support services in Colorado communities. It was the first peer-led\, peer-run authentic Recovery Community Organization in Colorado!

SUMMARY:Cornucopia 2025-Metro Caring Fundraiser!
DESCRIPTION:Cornucopia 2025-Metro Caring Fundraiser\, Fri. Sept. 19th\, 4-9:30PM\, 6 volunteers are needed (We can still use 2 more volunteers for this event).  This annual fundraiser has a dinner with a culinary tour of diverse foods & refreshments from around the community plus a program where they recognize change-making leaders & have powerful stories.  It is held at Mile High Station\, a premier event venue\, in Denver.  Our volunteers will meet both the caterers and the lines of people attending the event.  It should be a great celebration!  This worthy non-profit last year distributed over 2+ million pounds of nutritious food to hungry families and individuals which also providing education and tools to help participants improve their health and reach their potential. This event is festive\, fun\, and will help them raise the funds they need this upcoming year to provide their needed food services to the community.

DESCRIPTION:Prep for Metro Caring’s Fundraiser\, Tues. Sept. 16th\, 5:00-7PM\, 6-8 Volunteers are needed. (We can still use 2 more volunteers for this event). We will be helping them get ready for the Friday’s Fundraiser.  They are short-staffed due to their funding so we’re going to help them get ready for their big event.  It won’t be hard work-we’ll be helping them get their name tags made & the goody bags done for their attendees. We will be in two conference rooms in their main facility that distributes the food.  The work won’t be hard but is much needed. The Metro Caring relieves hunger while also addressing the root causes of that hunger.  The event will be in Central Denver.  There is free parking nearby.  This worthy non profit which last year distributed over 2+ million pounds of nutritious food to hungry families & individuals while also providing education and tools to help participants improve their health and reach their potential.

We will be running a 2-day Pepsi products booth by the Band Stage that also has a view of the lake!  The event runs from 10AM-5PM so you can  come early to watch the races\, enjoy the entertainment\, taste food\, tour the market area & more!  This is their 25th year Anniversary!  They are expecting 200\,000 to people attend this 2-day event which is the largest of its kind in the nation celebrating the traditional Chinese holiday- this year is The Year of the Wood Snake Celebration that will showcase our many local Asian cultures.   It is held at Sloan’s Lake and has over almost 50 teams from across the world competing in the dragon boat race\, a performing arts stage\, an Asian market place\, a taste of Asian food court & more!!  We’ve helped them several times previously and always enjoyed the experience!

We will be running a 2-day Pepsi products booth by the Band Stage that also has a view of the lake!  The event runs from 10AM-7PM so you can  come early to watch the races\, enjoy the entertainment\, taste food\, tour the market area & more!  This is their 25th year Anniversary!  They are expecting 200\,000 to people attend this 2-day event which is the largest of its kind in the nation celebrating the traditional Chinese holiday- this year is The Year of the Wood Snake Celebration that will showcase our many local Asian cultures.   It is held at Sloan’s Lake and has over almost 50 teams from across the world competing in the dragon boat race\, a performing arts stage\, an Asian market place\, a taste of Asian food court & more!!  We’ve helped them several times previously and always enjoyed the experience!

SUMMARY:The Delores Project Women's Safehouse
DESCRIPTION:Serving Dinner at the Delores Project Women’s Safehouse\, Thurs. Aug. 21st\, 5:30-8 PM\, 6 Volunteers are needed. This is a fantastic facility that assists homeless women who have been in challenging situations!  We can help bring some joy there while serving dinner & talking to residents as they come through the dinner line!  The food is provided\, we just need to heat it up and serve it to the residents as they come through the line.  In addition to serving the food we will eat dinner towards the end of our shift prior to packing up the food items for storage.  So many of our volunteers request this event!  We have assisted this women’s safe shelter several times through several years and they have asked us back as we have fantastic groups of volunteers. The shelter is in West Denver. This is a confidential location that is given out to the volunteers after registering due to the nature of the facility.  Both male & female volunteers are welcome to assist at this event.

We will be helping distribute the school supplies at Centennial Park which is South of Cherry Creek State Park in Centennial.  The back-to-school season is a critical time for families in need!  This is our second school supply event this weekend to try to help those families get their children ready for school.

DESCRIPTION:School Supply Distribution for the Jeffco Action Center\, Sat. Aug 2nd\, 8:30AM-12:45PM\, 6 Volunteers are needed. We will be helping to staff the school supply distribution. We have helped them several times before and always enjoy the experience.  You will make an impact by helping low-income students be prepared and excited to start school. This will help approx. 5000 students in Jefferson County\,  which has the highest number of identified homeless students in Colorado\, over a 6-day distribution period.  We are divided into areas serving different age groups of children. Parents pick up backpacks for their children which are filled with appropriate school supplies.  Many families are having financial problems this year so we will definitely be making a positive difference for these school children!  We are doing a 2-day School Supply Distribution weekend on Saturday & Sunday in two different parts of town!

DESCRIPTION:Fundraising Dinner for Limb Preservation Foundation\, Mon. July 21st\, 5-8:30PM\, 5-7 volunteers are needed.  The Limb Preservation Foundation is having their 25th Annual Golf Classic during that afternoon at the Inverness Golf Club in Englewood.  Afterwards they are having a cocktail reception\, dinner\, & presentation.  We will be helping guests find their seats\, answering questions for their assigned tables\, and helping with paddle spotting.  Volunteers will receive a Tshirt and will have an area with food/snacks.  Funds raised from this event will go directly to supporting local folk at risk of amputation!  We’ve helped them previously with their worthy cause and they say they love working with our great volunteers!

DESCRIPTION:Habitat for Humanity ReStore\, Sat. July. 19th\, 10AM-2PM\, 6 Volunteers are needed. We will be helping at the Denver ReStore which is one of our volunteers’ favorites. We’ve helped them many times previously.  We normally are helping to stock donations onto the shelves\, straighten up or rearrange some of the areas\, and sometimes help with accepting incoming donations & outgoing purchases. There is free parking and a lunch break.  Customers shop at the ReStore for new and gently used appliances\, furniture\, home remodeling supplies\, pictures\, and more at huge discounts.  Our volunteers get an extra discount if they see something they wish to purchase! All profits support Habitat for Humanity’s home ownership program for low-income families.  Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver builds and sells homes to hard-working people in need of decent and affordable housing. Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver is part of a global\, nonprofit housing organization that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes\, communities and hope.

SUMMARY:Crosscurrents River & Music Festival benefiting the Greenway Foundation!
DESCRIPTION:Sat.\, July 12th\, Crosscurrents River & Music  Festival\, 2-6PM\, 6 volunteers are  needed. We had a cancellation so still need one volunteer for this event!  The Crosscurrents Festival is in Confluence Park by the South Platte River.  We will be helping at the information/waiver booths helping with waivers\, raffle tickets\, & giving out general information. Since they have water activities and a kids zone with a rockclimbing wall we will help event attendees sign waivers\, get wristbands\, and navigate the event space.  Volunteers will receive 2 free drink & food tickets and a Tshirt. The event also has food trucks & live music from two stages all day and lasts until 10:00PM so you can stay and enjoy the activities if you wish.  The Greenway Foundation has been a non profit since 1974.  They have been leading efforts to reclaim the South Platte River and its tributaries from a virtual cesspool to a place of environmental and recreational pride.

DESCRIPTION:Edgewater Music Festival Blues & BBQ for Better Housing benefiting Habitat for Humanity\, Sat. June 21st\, 1:00-4:30PM\, 8 Volunteers are needed.  We will be in the VIP/Band tent where we will assist in welcoming & serving VIP guests\, ensuring a smooth experience with drinks & seating while maintaining a friendly\, professional atmosphere in the VIP tent. The event is being held at a park in Edgewater from 2PM-10PM but we will just be helping in the beginning.  Over the past years\, this festival has raised over $600\,000 for Habitat for Humanity.  You will receive a T-shirt and free entry to enjoy the music during your shift and headliner band after you finish your shift!   Water/Food will be provided.  It’s a great time for a good cause!! Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes\, communities\, and hope.  Their Vision is: A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

DESCRIPTION:Clothing Donation Sorting for Jeffco Action Center\, Sat.\, June 14th\, 8:45AM-11:30AM. (This event is now on Waiting List status. If you sign up you will receive the automated responses but will only be contacted with the details if we have a volunteer cancellation.) 6 Volunteers are needed to help sort the donated clothing for the busy week ahead. We sort the clothing by size & type\, put the items on hangers\, and then they are hung in the store in the adjoining room. During the week people in need shop with volunteer shoppers in their donation “store” that is set up by sizes and types of clothing just like a regular store.  They are told how many items they can receive at the store and are given a time limit for their shopping. We have helped with this portion of their center’s activities before and really enjoyed the experience!! The Action Center’s mission is to provide an immediate response to basic human needs and promote pathways to self-sufficiency for Jefferson County residents and the homeless.  They are located in Lakewood.  I’m really happy that we are able to assist again as our volunteers always loved this event!
