SUMMARY:Serving Dinner at The Crossing transitional shelter!
DESCRIPTION:Serving Dinner at The Crossing transitional shelter\,Wed. Aug. 17th\, 5-7:PM\, 5 volunteers are needed. (This event is now on Waiting List status.  If you sign up you will receive 2 automated responses but will only be contacted with details if we have a volunteer cancellation.) Many of our volunteers request this event because they enjoy it and feel that it is such a worthwhile organization.  The Crossing is a transitional facility between the homeless shelter and getting back into a home.  The residents are working and saving up for a place to live.  It is drug & alcohol free.  Men\, women & children reside there.  It provides a great service as people work to get back on their feet. Our volunteers will help in the buffet line and may help with some of the meal bags for those who come back from work after dinner time.  After we serve dinner we will have an opportunity to eat as a group and also enjoy the meal. This facility is trying to keep everything safe for volunteers.  Each volunteer should wear a mask.  Gloves will be provided. All volunteers must have been vaccinated!  We will be behind the counter & plexi-glass when serving food and there are sinks for handwashing and sanitizer. The last time we were there during this pandemic time\, they were using disposable dishes and utensils\, most the residents then ate in their rooms instead of the dining room and they had an extra table in front of the food line to keep everyone 6 ft. apart.
