SUMMARY:Drive-Thru Food Bank at The Action Center (part 2)
DESCRIPTION:Drive-Thru Food Bank at The Action Center (part 2)- Sat.\, Jan. 23rd- 9AM til Noon- 4 Volunteers are needed. (This event is now on Waiting List status.  If you register your name will go on the registration list and you will receive an 2 automated responses but you will only be contacted if we have a volunteer cancellation.)  The Action Center normally provides food to about 60 low-income people daily. They normally do that during the week days.  During these COVID-19 crisis days that number has gone up to around 200!  For that reason they have now opened up a drive-through Food Bank for two Saturdays starting in January.  We will be helping both Saturdays but you do not have to sign up for both days unless you’d like to.  We may be doing a variety of activities such as packing boxes\, sorting food\, loading food into cars\, directing traffic\, etc.  We helped them for an event in August and they were very careful to be sure the volunteers were safe during this pandemic. We will be working in small groups of volunteers in open areas to accommodate social distancing.  Everyone is required to wear a mask\, disposable gloves will be provided\, they have temperature check stations\, hand sanitizer\, etc.  This should be a great way to help our community when so many individuals and families are short on food these days!  The event will be in Lakewood.
